School Portfolio and some stuff

Heyyyyyy! So school has been busier than last year, BUT Ive learned twice as much! :D

Anyway, now I have a school portfolio for applying to companies, and places.... Im so nervous! But I been working really hard, especially in animation.
So most of my nice stuff is gonna be in the portfolio site, but I like posting things here as well cause I think the learning process is just as important as the end result.

Here is the link: http://animation.sheridanc.on.ca/portfolio/2016/gomezcam/

Aaaand I also have some stuff from when I was working on my action analysis. My workbook, which I actually think tuned out really well. I like rendering with pencil :P
(btw my AA can be seen in the portfolio site)

This year's life drawing also got more fun. We got to rake some poses and make a superhero characterout of them. They put this one on the wall :)
and as always I love drawing animals!

Action Analysis and Multiplane Assignment Concept

This was mainly for layout, and I got inspiration from different artists when doing this, I also used A LOT of reference, and even now I'm still looking back on it and getting more to make a better work. I did some more stuff, but this are the ones I feel work better, and were more fun to work on.

Doing stagecoaches in layout last year was actually really helpful on the wagons, and how to simplify them.

Interior Painting

I did this last year at around October.. I really liked it back then, but now... I think I could do better... the back wall is bothering me. I must say I do like layout and painting, I'm not very good at it, but I enjoy it, so I'll keep working to improve. Also, I think its amazing when your teacher magically fixes your work in 5 min using photoshop when giving feedback, I wanna be like that someday :D

I have to work on losing the fear of adding cast shadows to my layouts that would improve them so much!

of love and other paintings

Novel interior Painting
Novel used: Del amor y otros Demonios (Of love and other demons) by Gabriel García Márquez

So we basically had to imagine a room from a novel, do the layout, and make a painting with it. I chose Sierva María's room for this since Garcia Marquéz describes it so well. Seriously, reading that part makes you wish that room belonged to you! Probably my painting doesnt give the same feeling, but since it is based on the colonial era in Colombia, I learned a ton of stuff doing it.
I learned new words, history, LAYOUT, and experimented with some painting techniques.
I wonder what the author of the book would say about it, I'll see if I can contact him and get his opinion :)

Mood...

Sooo more painting, sometimes I feel like that's what I have the most in this blog, I like it, but it takes me so long to do! Anyway these two are supposed to show a different mood using a different color palette. I'm not too sure I accomplished that thou :/ the second one looks better in real life

Pan Market and Layout Giants

I really like  Snobby Ms Pig, and now I'm trying to use her in character design. this assignment is from the last term, but I hadnt had time to deal with mr. photoshop to flatten the layers, its a background to pan on a scene.

Now the second one is from this term, and its a bunny and a baby tiger (I think there is an anime or somethign called bunny and tiger) this one was to work on the relationship between a very big character and a very small one.

not so fictional planet, aaaand boring still lifes

I dont like the castle anymore, but I think that these paintings turned nice overall (nothing to do with their still life predecessors) I feel like I already know what the teacher is gonna say about them, but I realized about it too late. Either way I hope I did good ^^
day and night scenes from a fictional planet, although maybe this isnt too fictional, and for the first time the real versions look better than the scans

and still lifes.. did I mention that I dislike doing still lifes? they are boring! well at leas this kind of objects people usually use for still lifes... I shouldn't have tried to make this a fancy painting. I learned my lesson, next time the objects will be mine, not my mom´s.

layout textures

I didn't quite get the style thing, but we were supposed to draw the way things would be in real life, then reversing textures, and another drawing with our style. I don't really feel like I have a style so... this is how it turned out. I really liked drawing the killer bass and the flying chinchillas :P

Layout shots

Still not sure how to name these guys... But now they're in some sort of story, the las panel looked better in big thou :/

spherical

SO I got a sad B on my first painting assignment, which doesnt surprise me cause I've never been too good at painting, but like I said before, I've improved, and my teacher thought so too^^
and now here's my second assignment, a sphere, which turned out to be harder than expected. I have to say I really liked the results, except for a bump in the top of the sphere I didnt notice before. I actually like it, not perfect, but a lot better than my first spheres :)

Layout!

Well... <3 this is the first layout-ish thing I actually like! and it didnt take me too long to do, and it was rendered, and maybe I am too excited, but this makes me happy. Even though there's a possibility I will not like this anymore after a month or so, right now I'll just enjoy the moment.  I hope I can get a good mark on it too.

So I did the whole structure/perspective thing, and then the rendered version. The characters still need names, and suggestions are welcome :P

Seeing it digitally, I think I like the rough better than the final :/

so... painting

I probably didnt do too well on this assignment, and I pray to the lord I pass this class....
So I had to do paintings with gouache, and it was fun... but it was hard too. You know I've never been good at painting; however, I kinda like it...
Anyway, I think I AM improving, and I really hope I'm right

I started with gradient studies the first one is supposed to be "transparent" and we had to see some of the paper, the second one was completely opaque, and it was also easier.

Next came the color gradients, cool and warm colors with black and white. The black is the hardest one I wonder why..

After this the assignment consisted of making a composition and then painting it with flat achromatic tones, achromatic tones with gradient, and finally color gradient. And here is the part where I think I'm improving, I hope my teacher can agree with me on that, but I also have to say that the color one was the most fun to do ^_^

Portfolio Part 3 ~layout~

Yes! the las part is here! also one of the hardest
*cough*room drawing*cough* again sorry for the bad quality photos my camera takes... and my shaky hands

Actually I did have fun drawing this, it was just difficult. But here's another one I really like, my object drawings! I like the second one better, I feel like the first one is kind of empty... but I couldn't make it work as I wanted if it wasn't so simple at first.

Finally here are the sculptures I used as extra pieces... I just feel sad for the crocodile cause again chicken pox didn't let me finish it the way I wanted to.

That's all folks!
Hope you enjoyed seeing my portfolio and wish me luck... this is my last chance, but as all the people around me say: believe in yourself and be positive!
