I'm more active on tumblr

Heey so just so the people that see this know, I have a tumblr account, and since its easier to to update there I just use it more (thou Im still terrible at updating especially since many of the work I do is not to be shared to the public, so I limit it to personal work) Anyways heres a little something I did recently cause I was inspired by my baby cousin, and I wanted to try a different style.

If you like it, you can also support me here Society6 :)

School Portfolio and some stuff

Heyyyyyy! So school has been busier than last year, BUT Ive learned twice as much! :D

Anyway, now I have a school portfolio for applying to companies, and places.... Im so nervous! But I been working really hard, especially in animation.
So most of my nice stuff is gonna be in the portfolio site, but I like posting things here as well cause I think the learning process is just as important as the end result.

Here is the link: http://animation.sheridanc.on.ca/portfolio/2016/gomezcam/

Aaaand I also have some stuff from when I was working on my action analysis. My workbook, which I actually think tuned out really well. I like rendering with pencil :P
(btw my AA can be seen in the portfolio site)

This year's life drawing also got more fun. We got to rake some poses and make a superhero characterout of them. They put this one on the wall :)
and as always I love drawing animals!

Action Analysis and Multiplane Assignment Concept

This was mainly for layout, and I got inspiration from different artists when doing this, I also used A LOT of reference, and even now I'm still looking back on it and getting more to make a better work. I did some more stuff, but this are the ones I feel work better, and were more fun to work on.

Doing stagecoaches in layout last year was actually really helpful on the wagons, and how to simplify them.

3D hand

uv's. uvs are hell. So I did this in second year and I'm finally posting it! school has been really busy lately so I'll do my best to continue sharing my work here. Anyways, I like 3D modeling, and I think the modle itself came out well, but the texture itself was a pain.

I'll probably update again some other time to show you how the hand looks without the texture, and yes, that's how skinny my hands are...

axolotl 3D

Remeber that axolotl character I worked on a few months ago? I decided to name him Moyo, but still I feel like there's a better name out there for him...
Anyway I made a 3D model of him, and mudbox was being mean... I'll go back to clay... or just maya... maybe ¬¬
My teacher surprisingly liked it, but I guess he was also looking for the process work, and I'm glad I have the habit of saving all those process work papers. The sad part is that sometimes I forget where I put them...

Also for character class, we worked on making one of our previous characters improve a bit, I tried to put extra emphasis on the eyes since they were not as expressive, but to be honest I still like his other eyes a bit more.

And... the 3D stuff

blanche and stella

I said I would animate the bird didn't I, I wanna do better animation. I didnt quite like the beginning of the scene, but I did like her drama. I hope its not just my opinion, I worked hard on this, and it was fun :)
P.S. I used a line from a streetcar named desire
Hope you like it!

Looking at it now, I feel like I did it a bit too fast...

Ms. Snobby Head

Hello! Remember the snobby pig character timeline I did a year ago? this year I was able to model the old lady's head in Maya and Mudbox, to be honest I dont love mudbox, but I like modeling, so hopefully something good will come out of this on the summer :)

You can see the turn around here, and again I apologize for youtube's bad quality...

And here some stills

Beak and muzzle

I will be animating these characters and I'm a little nervous about it, but I worked hard on their designs, especially the bird's. I had never drawn a realistic bird like character, so I guess I was so afraid of it that I worked extra hard on it; however, it did turn out nicely, and my teacher thought so too :)

For this one I was inspired by a meerkat and someone I know.

And for this girl I wanted to draw a quetzal, a central american bird that could get extinct, so please support the animal organizations that try to take care of it ^^ (p.s. the one with the long tail is actually the male one, but its animation, you can cheat on this things :P )

Human lip synch

Hello again! So I hope people like this,I worked hard on it. The line he says is from the movie Saving Private Ryan, which I hadnt watched before doing this assignment. But I chose the line like that on purpose, so I could have some freedom applying some of the stuff we learned in acting class :)

All I knew about this movie was that it was about a soldier, so I thought about the many things that could make a soldier say these words in this tone of voice, and tried to make him remember those things when he was speaking. I also did some reasearch on real life world war II, and vietnam soldiers. I hope I did a good job. Although the software messed a bit with me :/

Interior Painting

I did this last year at around October.. I really liked it back then, but now... I think I could do better... the back wall is bothering me. I must say I do like layout and painting, I'm not very good at it, but I enjoy it, so I'll keep working to improve. Also, I think its amazing when your teacher magically fixes your work in 5 min using photoshop when giving feedback, I wanna be like that someday :D

I have to work on losing the fear of adding cast shadows to my layouts that would improve them so much!

3D animation... I did better than I expected

So, hi! I know It's been a while, but you know... life happens and all that. Anyway apparently my 3D skills are better than I thought they were. I was really scared before touching maya for the first time, and I didnt understand anything! but I got used to it and I guess its coming :)
I have two assignments to show. I apologize for youtube's bad quality

Dog walk!

My teacher said it was almost perfect, and it made me really happy cause it was all thanks to... this thing...

This next one I dont like so much, but It was fun to try and do a whole little scene

New W(y)ork

Nah I havent been to New York in a while, but it sounds like a nice place for an animator. Judging from what my teachers had to say, New York was a good place to make connections and work as an animator. I dont know if it still is.
Either way, I'm alive! I've had tons of work, some of which I want to work a little bit more on before posting it.
Most of what I have today is animation, not amazing, but I put a lot of hard work into it. Also a new character. Any name suggestions for him are welcome.

First is my wave/boat/sack assignment

Now my nameless character, he's an Axolotl. And they could get extinct in their habitat! So whenever you visit Xochimilco be nice to the environment please.

Now, my lift and toss animation! to which I hope I can add more details after christmas (something good might come under the tree this year...)
This was also my very first time using flash for a frame by frame, drawing by drawing, animation. My hand hurt like crazy! But I hope to get better at working digitally.

Beat boards

Storyboard, storyboard, storyboard.... Ok they're actually beat boards, and now I finally understand that the "storyboard" we were supposed to work on on the entrance portfolio were actually beats. Yes! to the people who want to get into the animation world, learn the difference between beat boards and story boards ;)
Now to my very first beat boards. They were based of the poems below.

My last painting assignment!

which was not painted.... I actually used colored paper, cardboard.... and inspiration from the amazing artist Brittney Lee
I had fun, and I felt I'm a bit better at working with my hands in this way, also I got the best grade I'd ever gotten in this class! It made me so happy!

I forgot to mention I'm a second year student now, so expect more work coming :)

last two of the year

I havent posted anything for a while... I know, but for some reason all my posting inspiration has left me. Anyways here are my last two animation assignments of the year

this one is the flour sack which was supposed to be the first assignment of the 2nd year...

and there's a new one. In sequence. I was absolutely burnt out while working on this. I wish the me of now would give some advice to the me that was working on this back then. But, learning from your mistakes is partf of one's life~
I did have fun drawing this character though

of love and other paintings

Novel interior Painting
Novel used: Del amor y otros Demonios (Of love and other demons) by Gabriel García Márquez

So we basically had to imagine a room from a novel, do the layout, and make a painting with it. I chose Sierva María's room for this since Garcia Marquéz describes it so well. Seriously, reading that part makes you wish that room belonged to you! Probably my painting doesnt give the same feeling, but since it is based on the colonial era in Colombia, I learned a ton of stuff doing it.
I learned new words, history, LAYOUT, and experimented with some painting techniques.
I wonder what the author of the book would say about it, I'll see if I can contact him and get his opinion :)
